Tannhauser

Wagner's tale of the struggle between spiritual and profane love, and of redemption through love, is given a radical visual update in Sebastian Baumgarten's controversial yet thought-provoking Bayreuth production. Joep van Lieshout's giant installation 'The Technocrat'; dominates the stage, its industrial interior giving credence to the idea that Tannhäuser is one big experiment and playing host to some magnificent performances, among them Torsten Kerl's robust interpretation of the title role and Camilla Nylund's wonderfully empathetic Elisabeth. Recorded live at the Bayreuth Festspiele, August 2014.

La Bayadère

La Bayadère is a three-act ballet by the French choreographer Marius Petipa. Set in 19th-century India, La Bayadère tells the sad love story of the noble warrior Solor and his Nikiya, a temple dancer or 'bayadère', who is poisoned by her rival, Gamzatti. This production of the ballet features the revised choreography by Vladimir Ponomarev and Vakhtang Chabukiani (1941), and includes dances by Konstantin Sergeyev and Nikolai Zubkovsky. The ballet’s music, composed by Ludwig Minkus, is performed by the Mariinsky Orchestra under the direction of Boris Gruzin. Among the performers are Viktoria Tereshkina, Anastasia Matvienko, Vladimir Shklyarov, and Vladimir Ponomarev. This performance was recorded at the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg, Russia, in July 2014.

When he learns that his boss is retiring to Arizona, sailor Ross Carpenter has to find a way to buy the Westwind, a boat that he and his father built. Meanwhile, he's also caught between two women: insensitive club singer Robin and sweet Laurel.

Hultsfred Festival 1991

This year the festival had chartered their own plane from London to bring the coolest bands in Britain to Sweden, which prompted television personality Henrik Schyffert to quip "If this plane crashes the hottest band in England will be Marillion"

A story about Bulgarian musicians, making a tour of Europe. In the morning they had a matinée in Graz and at nigh they are supposed to have a gala in Vienna. Fly by Rossinant is a musical incorporating opera and silent movies elements.

The film weaves together three periods in Blaze's life, exploring his love affair with Sybil Rosen; his last, dark night on Earth; and the impact his songs and his death had on his fans, friends, and foes.

Taking Tiger Mountain by Strategy

Based on a novel from the 50s, Taking Tiger Mountain was first a revolutionary opera before being made into film by director Xie Tieli.
