Jahangir Baghirov: Conqueror of the Skies ("Səmanın Cahangiri") is a 2026 Azerbaijani documentary film about Guards Senior Lieutenant and fighter pilot Jahangir Mirjafar Baghirov (1919–1943). Based on historical sources, archival materials and wartime memoirs, the film tells the story of his childhood, military education, heroic combat missions, his final battle during World War II and the preservation of his legacy.

Fabrik der Offiziere

An army war school during the WWII: first Lieutenant Krafft has a strong sense of justice. This has often brought him into disrepute with his previous superiors and he has been transferred several times as a result. With his new position in an officer's school, he hopes to survive the war and tries to avoid further conflicts. However, Krafft is entrusted with an investigation by his general - a supervising officer has been blown to pieces by an explosive charge during an engineer exercise. Although the chief field judge rules the man's death an accident, Krafft reconstructs the events and proves that it was a case of murder. Ensign Hochbauer, who was in the party's favor, is said to have deliberately shortened the fuse during the explosive exercise, as a result of which the supervising officer was unable to get to safety in time.

Boy Meets Girl

I will call you! So you better answer your phone! In the year 2020, a homestay is being conducted for male and female teenagers in preparation for a union between North Korea and South Korea. North Korean girl Ha-jin goes to South Korean boy Woo-yeong's house to homestay. Woo-yeong starts to bully Ha-jin who has taken his room, but alas! First love has found its way to these children. Woo-yeong runs away to Seoul with Ha-jin to help her meet her father.

Hideout

Ukraine, 1946. Orest, commander of an insurgent squad, is in a hideout together with his pregnant wife Eva and several fighters. The NKVD surrounds the insurgents. The captain of the commissariat squad gives Orest a choice: he either gives Eva out or accepts an unequal fight.

Forbidden Films

Between 1933 and 1945 roughly 1200 films were made in Germany, of which 300 were banned by the Allied forces. Oscar winning postwar propaganda film in support of the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration. Strident but poignant, focusing on children. The film surveys the Nazi/Japanese atrocities, post-war devastation and the early relief efforts. This film was responsible for raising over $200,000,000, making it a top moneymaking film. Preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2005.

The House

Set in 1884, and based on the assumption that Britain is one of the Baltic states between Russia and Latvia, making it part of Europe instead of an off-shore island. It is winter 1884. To gain access to the sea, England has declared war on Latvia and believes herself to be winning. But Russia has sided with Latvia and England is doomed. The action takes place on New Year’s Eve in a country house on the Anglo-Latvian border. The guests are a cross section of the ruling classes.

A Letter from the Western Front

In Belleau Wood, France, during the Great War, a soldier named John writes a letter home to his wife Sara in Milwaukee. He writes that her picture "helps me remember what it was like to be me." He tells her about sorties into No Man's Land, and that they have orders tonight to charge. Then, his letter becomes a report of that charge: toward an armed German soldier who doesn't fire, even when John reaches him and jumps into the trench beside him. What happens next brings silence and an end to the letter.

Further east of the Dark Blue Sky, where the Heavenly Horsemen fought, the story of a Czechoslovakian fighter squadron takes place, to which Second Lieutenant Jandak arrives as a rookie. He then experiences both his first love and a battle high above the clouds in the collective of combat pilots. Combat pilots on the Eastern Front thus experience similar stories to their Western colleagues, with the same goals and plans and the same slim prospects of survival in their daily life-and-death battles. Not surprisingly, they fought at a time when they had a common enemy, characterised by the Messerschmitt aircraft.

In 1943 Japan is facing defeat. This makes Shinkichi, a straight, selfless student-patriot, ever more restless. He can no longer stand his soft "behind-the- gun" role of munition factory worker. School-mates one after another are going to the front, where he feels he should be. The last straw is an official report of his father's death in the Battle of Attu in the Aleutian Islands. He rushes to the naval air corps training camp at Tsuchiura along with his close school-mates Naito, Yamada, Saito and Tagawa as Volunteer pilot trainees leaving his mother and sweetheart weeping and helpless.
