After the Earth was destroyed by mysterious alien lifeforms known as the Gauna, surviving remnants of the human race escaped to space in the enormous generation ship Sidonia. Having drifted through space for millennia, the Sidonia found itself once more under attack from Gauna for the first time in a century. Once again facing the threat of extinction, a temporary victory against the Gauna was eked out thanks to the human-Gauna hybrid Tsumugi Shiraui and ace Guardian mech pilot Nagate Tanikaze. 10 years later... The people of Sidonia enjoy a brief respite. Peaceful days pass, during which Tsumugi begins to realize her feelings for Nagate, who is now celebrated as a hero of Sidonia. Doress, a Japanese "black projects" organization, has been gathering psionics and creating biological weapons to "make Japan superior". When one of the biological experiments, BAOH, a parasite living inside 17-year-old Ikuro, escapes with a psychic young girl named Sumire, Doress will do anything to get the boy and girl back. The only problem for them is that BAOH has the ability to alter its host into a living death machine in order to keep it alive. BAOH "awakens" to its "Armed Defense Phenomenons", giving Ikuro acid-tipped claws, bio-regeneration, and super-strength. But Doress takes the girl, and BAOH, alongside its host, must fight an army of commandos and psionics to get her back.

Mamori

Mamori transports us into a black-and-white universe of fluid shapes, dappled and striated with shadows and light, where the texture of the visuals and of the celluloid itself have been transformed through the filmmaker’s artistry. The raw material of images and sounds was captured in the Amazon rainforest by filmmaker Karl Lemieux and avant-garde composer Francisco López, a specialist in field recordings. Re-filming the photographs on 16 mm stock, then developing the film stock itself and digitally editing the whole, Lemieux transmutes the raw images and accompanying sounds into an intense sensory experience at the outer limits of representation and abstraction. Fragmented musical phrases filter through the soundtrack, evoking in our imagination the clamour of the tropical rainforest in this remote Amazonian location called Mamori.
