Upon the listing an ad seeking video submissions that discussed one's personal relationship with alcohol, a random collection of people sat down reflect. These intimate thoughts were then projected on to settings and spaces in connection to my own relationship, thinking back to when I could drink. Together we sit and meditate on the tricky nature of an easy to rely on a substance.

Homo Botanicus

Fifteen years after giving up his studies as a botanist, the filmmaker decides to visit his old professor — Julio Betancur — and returns to the tropical forests of Colombia with Julio and his new disciple, the young Cristian Castro. This reunion launches a voyage that immerses us in doubts over science and the way we see the world, as Julio and Cristian look for their beloved plants in remote forests. Through their work, the film shows us the importance of legacies, and the strength of that ancient bond between master and disciple. Their search also prompts a personal reflection on modern man’s obsession with controlling and mapping nature. In the diverse and nearly infinite world of the tropics, what is the point of counting plants forever?

The camera’s static shots resembling photographs are woven together into an experimental documentary on life in Skaland.

Human Factors relates to people’s roles and behaviours in complex operational systems such as aviation, nuclear facilities, and healthcare. This film explores how healthcare and emergency workers train to manage encounters of crisis, with other humans and machines, the lines often blending between the two. Such encounters lay bare our physical and social fragility as much as our reliance on care institutions for survival in the face of a neoliberal ethos of individualism, self-management, and personal accountability.
