The Territory

The Indigenous Uru-eu-wau-wau people have seen their population dwindle and their culture threatened since coming into contact with non-Native Brazilians. Though promised dominion over their own rainforest territory, they have faced illegal incursions from environmentally destructive logging and mining, and, most recently, land-grabbing invasions spurred on by right-wing politicians like President Jair Bolsonaro. With deforestation escalating as a result, the stakes have become global.

Protest Under Pressure

Over the past two years, German universities have become sites of resistance for students in solidarity with Palestine. Campuses have bee marked by police violence, court proceedings, intimidation, and growing forms of (self-)censorship. Set at the Free University of Berlin, this documentary traces how academic spaces have been reshaped by state repression. The film centers the brutal eviction of the Palestine solidarity encampment in May 2024 and the cascade of events that followed: a media smear campaign, institutional threats, legal repercussions, and mounting interference with academic freedom. These developments are situated within a wider political framework—Germany’s “reason of state”—and examined in relation to the country’s role in the ongoing occupation and genocide in Palestine.

Echoing the title of its precursor film, Un Âne—“a donkey” in French–, [anan] refers to the phonetic sound of the word “cloud” in Hebrew. The film moves through route 3199 in the Negev desert in southern Israel/colonised Palestine—a route followed and filmed by renowned filmmaker Chantal Akerman around her untimely death in 2015. A work invested in an attempt to mourn Akerman in a time of ravaging genocide that creates an inter-generational trauma. A reckoning with the blind spot of European Jewry towards the settler colonisation of Palestine by Zionism and the ongoing Nakba.

Grandfather

Antonio is 92 years old and lives on his own in Penàguila, a small Spanish village in the Mediterranean mountains. In his old age, he spends his days enjoying the good weather on the patio, doing minimal tasks, and teaching things to younger generations. His old age sets the pace in a village where he has lived all his life and where his past is around him, like the family restaurant or the fields he used to harvest. The arrival of the cold winter will change it all.

Confessions of a Mole

After seven years of living and studying in Poland, Mo returns to her parents in China. She quickly finds herself back in the family's perpetual patterns, but she feels out of place. Her parents' usual care, though well-intentioned, often triggers conflicts with her, while relatives chime in with questions about when she'll take the next step in life. Meanwhile, her relationship with her boyfriend is far from smooth, and then there's the matter of the mole below her eye. According to traditional Chinese face reading, its tear-like appearance will bring misfortune. What will happen if she simply leaves it as it is?
