In a corner of a border town in the Lleida plains, there once stood a pub called Plató 3. Years after its closure, a group of young people decides to meet in an old fruit cooperative to rehearse a play about the best nights of their lives. What they do not know is that, in those nights, there were old shadows they must reunite with.

Los Boys

If breakdance was a dance of cultural resistance of the Afro community in the US, perhaps this documentary shows a continuity with the northern Argentine adolescence. The Boys Street is a breakdancing group recognized through their presentations on the reality television show Talento Argentino, where they reached the final. Its members are adolescents between 12 and 18 years old from Palpalá, a town in the southeast of the province of Jujuy. Without technical knowledge, the group recorded the process of participating in the program with their own video cameras, crudely portraying their experience as a counterpart to the formality and aestheticization of reality. Los Boys recovers the history of the group at the same time that it captures the daily life of its members in the present day of Palpalá, a town that was recognized as "Mother of Industry" since it had several industrial parks, but was systematically dismantled after the coup d'état and during the privatizations of the '90s.

Autogeografía

Marta Minujín’s work is defined by its ephemeral nature—actions living in the present, performances destined to disappear due to the absence of documentation. During her stay in New York, she added cinema to her art practice, and upon returning to Buenos Aires, she shot a number of short films. In Autogeografía, she puts her own body in front of the camera, articulating recording and representation in an early video-performance work. Derived from her action Comunicando con tierra (where she extracted soil from the Machu Picchu which she later exchanged with other Latin American Artists), a purification ritual takes place—Minujín covers herself up in “barbarity,” soil and grains that anonymous hands throw at her from out of field. A territory for exploration where the absurd embraces the real—“The only thing that is true is what we invent.”

However, the Hong Kong government has been slow to allow treatment for the disease, especially in relaxing regulations for drugs that treat the tumors. Director Wong Siu-pong turns his camera on Hong Kong’s medical system with this heartrending documentary about a young TSC patient who also lost her mother to the disease.
